George Cadbury Joins National Spitfire Project as Trustee

A man in a suit and tie with slicked-back hair is smiling slightly. The logo for the National Spitfire Project, featuring a silhouette of a Spitfire aeroplane, is in the top left corner on a white background.

The National Spitfire Project is pleased to announce the appointment of George Cadbury to its Board of Trustees.

George brings over 25 years of experience in investment management, with a career built on helping businesses grow and navigate complex fundraising landscapes. He is currently focused on investing in the sports sector and was previously a partner at the activist hedge fund, Gatemore Capital, following earlier roles within fund management.

Beyond his professional expertise, George’s personal connection to the Spitfire and its legacy runs deep.

“My passion for Spitfires was inherited from my father, Peter Cadbury, who had a life-long obsession with the aircraft — forged originally through his close friendship with Douglas Bader,” he shared. “With my grandfather having shot down two Zeppelins in the First World War, and my father having flown during the Second, I hope this can be my small way of contributing to a very proud family tradition.”

George’s appointment brings valuable experience and perspective to the National Spitfire Project as it enters a critical phase — preparing to deliver a world-class monument that honours the Spitfire and the remarkable people behind its legacy.

We are honoured to welcome George to the team and look forward to the insight and energy he will bring to the Project.
